A family-owned manufacturer built on precision, trust, and a genuine commitment to the health and wellness of every consumer who takes a supplement made in our facility.
Nature's Supplements Inc. was born from a simple conviction: that high-quality supplement manufacturing should not be the exclusive province of large industrial operators. In 1999, Arturo and Gabriela Costilla founded NSI in Carlsbad, California with a focus on precision small-batch production and the kind of personal client service that only a family-owned business can deliver.
Arturo brought deep expertise in pharmaceutical-grade manufacturing processes and quality systems. Gabriela contributed sharp business acumen and a relentless focus on client relationships. Together, they built a company where scientific rigor and personal accountability were never in conflict — they were the same thing.
From the beginning, NSI accepted only contracts where they could meet or exceed client quality expectations. That selective approach — putting quality ahead of volume — earned the trust of brands who could not afford manufacturing failures and built a reputation that has sustained the company for more than two decades.
Through the 2000s, NSI's reputation for reliable small-batch capsule manufacturing grew steadily. As client demand increased and the supplement industry expanded, the original Carlsbad location became too small for the production volume NSI was managing. In 2012, Arturo and Gabriela made the decision to relocate to a purpose-built 20,000 square foot facility at 1342 Rocky Point Drive in Oceanside, California.
The new facility was designed from the ground up for cGMP compliance: separate raw material quarantine areas, controlled-environment encapsulation rooms, a dedicated in-house QA laboratory, and ample finished goods storage. The Costilla family also made a long-term commitment to sustainability by installing a full solar power system — today, 100% of our facility's electricity comes from renewable solar energy.
The move to Oceanside represented more than a change of address. It was a statement about the kind of company NSI intended to be — one that invested in infrastructure, people, and process to deliver consistent quality at any scale.
The principles that guide every decision at Nature's Supplements Inc., from how we source ingredients to how we communicate with clients.
Every formula, every batch, every test result is handled with the same rigor we'd apply to our own health. We don't release lots that don't pass. We don't cut corners when schedules are tight. The science is the standard, always.
We tell clients what's feasible, what's not, and why. If a formula has a stability risk or a labeling compliance issue, you'll hear it from us before it becomes your problem. Long-term relationships are built on honest advice, not just completed orders.
We've never abandoned our small-batch roots even as our capacity has grown. Emerging brands deserve the same manufacturing quality as established ones. Our processes are built to deliver consistency whether you're ordering 500 bottles or 50,000.
Running our facility on 100% solar energy is not a marketing point — it's a reflection of our responsibility to the community and environment. We also minimize packaging waste and work with suppliers who share our sustainability values.
As a family-owned business, we are personally accountable for every product that leaves our facility. The Costilla family's name is behind every capsule. That level of ownership creates a standard of care that corporate manufacturers simply cannot replicate.
We measure our success by the success of our clients' brands. When your product wins shelf space, grows its customer base, or receives glowing reviews, that's a direct reflection of the manufacturing quality behind it. Your wins are our wins.
The supplement industry has a well-documented quality problem. Studies by the FDA and independent researchers have repeatedly found that a significant percentage of supplements on the market contain the wrong ingredients, wrong doses, or contamination. Most of these failures trace back to manufacturers who prioritized throughput over process rigor.
Small-batch manufacturing changes the incentive structure. When you run smaller quantities, every lot receives more individual attention. Our QA team tests every batch — not a statistical sample of batches — and our production staff has the time to identify and resolve anomalies before they become finished product.
"A small batch done right delivers more value than a large batch done fast. We built NSI around that conviction from day one."
— Arturo Costilla, Co-Founder
For brands launching new products, small-batch manufacturing also reduces financial risk. You can validate a formula and a market with a limited run before committing to high-volume production — without being turned away by a manufacturer with high minimums.
